Ostrich Energy Limited (OEL) was formed in 2005, in response to a requirement for safety case authorship, which was introduced under the Cullen Report, following the Piper Alpha platform disaster. OEL now comprises a Inspection, safety and risk department and a marine department. From its offices in Aberdeen United Kingdom and Lagos Nigeria, it coordinates a network and staff of marine, risk and survey professionals undertaking projects worldwide for the offshore oil and gas market. In addition to inspection, land remediation, master mariners, safety and marine engineers and naval architects, it draws on the skills of mathematicians and risk specialists.
